HOUSTON — Houston-based Fiesta Mart LLC has reopened its Wayside store, here, after extensive remodeling.

The grand reopening was part of a long-term reinvigoration of the Fiesta brand and its commitment to provide uncompromised freshness, great value and unsurpassed variety every day.

The August 31 event served as a kickoff off several store redesigns throughout the state for the rapidly expanding international and specialty food brand that acquired 11 Minyard Food Stores this summer.

Events began with a blessing of the store and donations by Fiesta to the Ripley House Neighborhood Center and Community Family Centers. Appearances from local leaders included interim chief of police Martha Montalvo, Mexican Consulate Oscar Rodriguez Cabrera and community government officials and activists.

Attendees were allowed the opportunity to receive samples of products and win prizes during a day that was marked by mariachi performances.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, weekend celebrations were launched highlighted by food trucks and samples featuring Goya Foods, Peñafiel, Dr Pepper, Holmes Sausage and more. Attendees met mascots including Fiesta’s famous Pepe, and took advantage of grand opening celebration deals throughout the store.

Children received free backpacks, lunch bags and tote bags.

The store underwent extensive redesigning to upgrade its layout appearance.

CEO Michael Byars noted that the revamping of the store in Houston’s East End incorporated elements ranging from the installation of a smoothie bar to bilingual signage stationed throughout the outlet. “What you see in this format is a store that still is not only relevant to the core Hispanic shopper but also provides outreach to any of the demographics we serve.”

Byars and other executives declined to provide a cost estimate for the changes at the 55,000-square-foot store that took about three months to complete.

Fiesta Mart is an international and specialty food retailer that has been based in Texas since 1972. It focuses on providing international and specialty food offerings at value prices serving the communities in which it operates.
