GMDC set to launch GMDC Connect

May 23rd, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Global Market Development Center (GMDC) will debut a major innovation in connectivity at its 42nd annual General Merchandise Marketing Conference in Orlando, Fla., June 1 to June 5.

The organization will enhance and extend both its CCC- and SEC-format meetings with telepresence pilots that will enable members not attending the show to participate through powerful high-definition video and broadband technology.

Telepresence training sessions will be provided at the GMDC Connect Demo Center to introduce members to the virtual meeting environment.

Since the telepresence technology is being piloted at this year’s conference, only select attendees will be directly involved, but the demonstrations will offer all conference attendees the opportunity to see and experience the technology.

“By utilizing the powerfully enabling technology that is available today to make this happen, GMDC will be generating an environment that will be much easier and infinitely more cost-effective to get the right people seated at the meetings and move business forward,” said GMDC president and chief executive officer Dave McConnell.
