WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee Inc. has named Jay Marshall chief operating officer, in one of three recent promotions at the company. He had been executive vice president and chief retail officer.

With the promotion, Marshall becomes only the fourth person in the company’s history to hold the COO title. He will remain in charge of retail operations and store development while taking on responsibility for all merchandising areas at the employee-owned supermarket chain, which operates 240 stores in eight Midwestern states.

Hy-Vee has also named Mike Agostino, president of Amber Pharmacy/Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions, as vice president of pharmacy innovation/business development at Hy-Vee. In the newly created position, Agostino will work with Hy-Vee’s health and wellness teams to research, develop and launch programs and initiatives to grow Hy-Vee’s health brand, the company says.

With Agostino in his new role, Aaron Wiese has been named president of Amber Pharmacy, the Omaha, Neb.-based specialty pharmacy operator that Hy-Vee acquired in 2014 after the two companies had worked together for several years to form Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions.
