Walmart has unveiled a major initiative designed to make packaged food more healthful and healthier food more affordable to all consumers. Walmart has tapped Duncan Mac Naughton to serve as chief merchandising officer for U.S. stores. The resignation of Jürgen Schreiber as president and chief executive officer of Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM), announced late last month, caught the Canadian pharmacy community off guard. Target Corp. has added two executives to its executive committee and named a new president for its Canadian operations. In a sampling of Canadian consumers, a majority seemed to react favorably to the news that Target Corp. would soon be assuming control of most of the existing Zellers Inc. stores. CVS Caremark Corp. president and chief operating officer Larry Merlo will take over as chief executive officer on March 1, the company said late last month. Sears Holdings Corp. has made several recent changes within its executive ranks. Organized retail crime is not shoplifting but big business.
