SUNBURY, Pa. – Weis Markets Inc. has named interim chief executive officer Jonathan Weis as the company’s president and CEO.

In addition, the 46-year-old Weis will remain vice chairman.

As the company’s top executive, Weis will oversee all aspects of the Weis Markets’ retail, supply chain, merchandising, human resources, information technology, finance, real estate and manufacturing operations.

Weis, who joined the chain in 1989, is the son of Robert Weis, who remains the company’s chairman.

During his 25 years with the company the younger Weis has held a wide range of positions at Weis Markets, including produce merchandising, grocery procurement and store operations.

He later worked in the company’s real estate department, where he was vice president of property management and development. In 2004 Weis became vice chairman and corporate secretary.
