Ahold picks Lenkevich to lead chain

March 10th, 2014

CARLISLE, Pa. – Ahold USA has hired Tom Lenkevich as president of its Giant/Martin’s division, which operates nearly 200 supermarkets under the Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets banners in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

Lenkevich joined Ahold on March 4 from Save-A-Lot, where he was chief operating officer and senior vice president of retail experience. Earlier, he worked for grocery retailers Meijer Inc. and A&P.

Lenkevich began his grocery career working his way through college as a clerk at Pantry Pride in central Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Penn State University.

"Tom’s decades of grocery experience combined with his central Pennsylvania roots make him a great addition to the Giant/Martin’s division and the Ahold USA leadership team," says James McCann, chief operating officer at Ahold USA.

Ahold USA, the U.S. arm of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold, oversees about 775 supermarkets in 14 states and the District of Columbia.
