Meijer unveils its 200th store

May 27th, 2013

SWARTZ CREEK, Mich. – A 190,000-square-foot outlet that opened here earlier this month brought Meijer Inc.’s store count to 200.

"We’re excited to continue to see our company grow in Michigan," said company cochairman Hank Meijer.

The milestone Swartz Creek store was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, according to the company, and features a drive-through pharmacy, a gas station and a wide assortment of general merchandise (including apparel, electronics and pet products), as well as an extensive grocery department.

The new store is one of six outlets Meijer intends to open this year in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
