The week following Thanksgiving is always special in New York City, at least in part because of the annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Caught in the middle of a market dominated, on the one hand, by such companies as Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy and Walmart, and, on the other, by independent drug stores, which together operate almost as many outlets as the nation’s drug chains, regional players and their contributions don’t always receive their due.
