Winn-Dixie adds active yogurt to store-brand line

June 2nd, 2010

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has introduced a new line of organic yogurts that appeals to consumers seeking products with added health benefits.

The southeastern supermarket chain said Wednesday that Winn-Dixie Organic Active Yogurt is the latest addition to its private-label offerings.

Winn-Dixie Organic Active Yogurt is all-natural, with no artificial preservatives or flavors, and includes probiotics and prebiotics to help support digestion. The yogurt is also USDA-Certified Organic and Kosher-Certified OU-D. Other health benefits include heart-healthy omega-3s, bone-building calcium and vitamin D, and three grams of fiber per serving. All are low-fat and have 150 calories or less per serving.

"We are always looking for new ways to provide healthy products for our customers," Mary Kellmanson, group vice president of marketing for Winn-Dixie, said in a statement. "Our organic line continues to expand with new products geared towards improving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle."

Winn-Dixie Organic Active Yogurt is available in six-ounce containers in strawberry, blueberry, peach, vanilla and raspberry. The product can be found at all 515 Winn-Dixie stores.

Winn-Dixie, which has stores in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi, offers more than 3,000 private-label products.
