Retail News Breaks Archives Fresh & Easy opens up shop San FranciscoJune 24th, 2011 SAN FRANCISCO – Tesco PLC’s Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market chain has opened its first store in the city of San Francisco. Residents in the Outer Richmond neighborhood received $5 coupons in the mail, along with a promise of “wholesome food, not whole paycheck.”
Although there is a Safeway supermarket in the Outer Richmond area, the neighborhood is considered underserved since an Albertsons Inc. at the current Fresh & Easy location was shuttered in 2007 and a local operator, DeLano’s Market, closed last December.
