Retail News Breaks Archives Walmart is examining ways that it can significantly increase its presence in the nation’s health care system. Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, a unit of Tesco PLC, has opened a an ultra-compact variant of its 10,000 square-foot prototype at the corner of La Cienega Blvd. and 18th Street in Los Angeles. David Friedman, president of marketing for Sears Holdings Corp., will leave the company in January to “pursue other opportunities,” according to a Reuters story. Friedman has held the post slightly more than a year. A&P has agreed to receive $490 million of debt and equity financing from private investors that will enable the beleaguered grocer to emerge from bankruptcy as a privately held company early next year.
