Family Dollar Stores Inc. has promoted Paul White to the position of executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

BI-LO, Winn-Dixie plan to merge

BI-LO LLC and Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. have agreed to merge and create a supermarket chain of about 690 stores in eight states throughout the Southeast.
