Family Dollar appoints Colin McGinnis SVP, operations
October 26th, 2012
MATTHEWS, N.C. – Family Dollar Stores Inc. has named Colin McGinnis to the position of senior vice president, store operations support, store development and procurement. He reports to Barry Sullivan, executive vice president of store operations.
"Over the last several years we have expanded our assortment to be more relevant to our customers and we have improved our store standards to make our stores easier to shop," said Sullivan. "Through Colin’s leadership and store operations experience we intend to improve how we take care of our stores and our team members."
McGinnis joined Family Dollar in August 2004 as a regional vice president. He also took the role of operations lead on the development of Family Dollar’s Store of the Future project. Two years later he was named vice president of store operations support and process improvement. Most recently, he added responsibility for store services, procurement and store development.
McGinnis’ promotion follows closely on the heels of another senior vice president appointment: Jocelyn Wong was appointed senior vice president and chief marketing officer of the chain in mid-October. She reports to president and chief operating officer Michael Bloom.
Prior to joining Family Dollar, Wong was group vice president of shopper marketing for Safeway Inc., where she led the creation of a newly formed shopper marketing organization. She began her career with Procter & Gamble Co., where she held a variety of roles, including associate marketing director for North American oral care.
"Effectively communicating our everyday value pricing to our customer is critical to driving trips and reinforcing our brand to grow our market share," said Bloom at the time of the appointment. "In a highly competitive retail environment, Jocelyn brings the experience and strategic vision we need to drive innovation in how we communicate to our customer to differentiate our brand and improve customer loyalty through our circulars and in-store experience."
