Retail News Breaks Archives Metro sells food service unit to SyscoOctober 23rd, 2012 Montreal – Metro Inc. has agreed to sell its Distagro food service division to Sysco Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Sysco Corp. The sale reflects the intention of Metro’s management to focus on its core supermarket and drug store businesses. The transaction primarily involves a Distagro warehouse in Boucherville that mainly supplies restaurant chains and convenience stores. Metro will continue to operate a warehouse in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli that serves the Marché Ami, Marché Extra, Service, Servi Express and Dépanneur Gem banners that have been supplied by Distagro.
The deal is expected to close around mid-December, subject to the usual closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
