Fresh & Easy to carry Reed's and Virgil's brands

LOS ANGELES – Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market will begin carrying selected Reed’s and Virgil’s products in all of its 159 locations.

The chain operates stores throughout California, Arizona and Nevada and is a division of British supermarket retailer Tesco PLC.

Chris Reed, founder and chief executive officer of Reed’s Inc., said Thursday the agreement with Fresh & Easy would create "a perfect fit" for his company's products.

“Their smaller-size format and focus on quality and freshness makes this a perfect fit for Reed’s all natural products,” he said. “Fresh & Easy is a true innovator, providing the highest quality, freshest food to neighborhoods in the Western U.S. with stores that are about a third of the size of the average U.S. supermarket.” 

Fresh and Easy stores measure about 10,000 square feet and carry about 4,000 SKUs.

Reed's makes natural sodas sold in over 10,500 natural food markets and supermarkets nationwide. In 2009, it started producing private label natural beverages for select national chains and has six award-winning non-alcoholic ginger brews. The company owns the  Virgil's Root Beer product line as well as the China Cola product line. Recently, Reed's introduced its ‘Reed’s Rx’ line of ginger-based nausea relief products for the drug store market and acquired the Sonoma Sparkler brand. Other product lines include Reed's ginger candies and Reed's ginger ice creams.
