Egasti joins Catalina Marketing as CEO
October 10th, 2011
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Catalina Marketing Corp. has named Jamie Egasti, former chief executive officer of The Folgers Coffee Co. and president of Procter & Gamble Co.'s global snacks and coffee unit, as its new CEO.
Egasti, who also will become a board member, replaces Catalina co-founder George Off, who has served as interim CEO and a member of the board since May.
Off, a former CEO of the shopper and patient marketing and research firm, took the interim role with the departure of Catalina chairman and CEO Dick Buell in the spring.
"I am thrilled to join Catalina at an exciting time in our company’s evolution," Egasti said in a statement. "Our ability to see, predict and prompt consumer behavior at the household level cannot be duplicated by any other company in the world. And our ability to deliver innovative value is superb. It is an honor to be joining such an incredible organization."
Egasti spent nearly 30 years at P&G, holding various sales, marketing and senior management positions. That included a role as general manager of the Global Fabric & Home Care New Business Development group, where he led the creation and launch of several new global businesses, such as the Febreze and Swiffer brands. He later served as president of P&G's $3.2 billion snack and coffee business and became chief executive of Folgers Coffee, where he led the spin-off of Folgers from P&G and later its transition to The JM Smucker Co.
"Jamie Egasti is an exceptional leader and builder who understands what it takes to create successful organizations," stated Philip Hammarskjold, chairman of Catalina. "Jamie recognizes Catalina's tremendous ongoing contribution and potential in helping brands, retailers and health care providers grow by providing value that matters to consumers. His deep knowledge of our industry and proven leadership in business innovation will be invaluable moving forward."
Hammarskjold added, "On behalf of the board and the entire Catalina team, we also want to express our gratitude to George Off for stepping in as interim CEO and building further business momentum."
