Prime Now service offered in New York, Miami areas

Amazon expanding delivery via Whole Foods

SEATTLE — Amazon.com Inc. and its Whole Foods Market chain said Tuesday that they are expanding the delivery of natural and organic products from Whole Foods Market stores through Amazon’s Prime Now service in the greater Miami and New York metropolitan areas.

Prime members in those cities can shop through online, or by using the Prime Now app on their IOS or Android devices, for fresh produce, meat, seafood, everyday staples and other products sourced from their local Whole Foods Market. The products, including select alcoholic beverages, are available for delivery in as little as an hour, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.

Amazon said the service is available in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, Fla., as well as in parts of Long Island and select areas in New York City, beginning with lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The service launched earlier this year and will expand to additional neighborhoods in New York City, and across the United States, throughout 2018, according to the company.

“We’ve been delighted with the customer response to delivery in as little as an hour through Prime Now, and we’re excited to bring the service to our customers in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, Long Island and New York City,” said Christina Minardi, executive vice president of operations at Whole Foods Market. “Today’s announcement is another way that we are continuing to expand access to our high-quality products and locally-sourced favorites.”
