BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has transitioned two merchandising executives to new roles: Annie Walker was named the new vice president of merchandising operations for apparel at Walmart U.S., reporting to Kevin Pate, and Julie Barber was appointed the new vice president and divisional merchandise manager of O-T-C merchandising, reporting to Latriece Watkins.

The transition, the company stated, “will provide further experience in new environments and industries, and it reflects our commitment to leadership development and growth in our talent pipeline.”

Walker began her Walmart career in 2002 as an industrial engineer with Walmart’s store engineering team, before moving to replenishment, where she served in several roles, including senior director of replenishment for the general merchandise division. In 2012, Walker was promoted to vice president for merchandise execution, responsible for developing and implementing strategies that support and drive the merchant strategy through store execution. She transitioned to her most recent position, vice president of O-T-C merchandising, in 2015.

Barber began her Walmart career in 2005 as an analyst in the company’s money service department, working her way up to senior group manager. Over the course of four years, Barber led the growth of the check cashing business, where she was recognized with the Business Growth award and the Above and Beyond award. She also held roles as a senior buyer for fresh and frozen poultry, and merchandise manager for pork and poultry. In 2015, Barber became the merchandise manager for the snacks business. She was promoted to her most recent position as vice president of snacks in 2016.
