TYLER, Texas — Brookshire Grocery Co. has announced the opening of 25 stores across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. The stores, according to the company, will be opened under a new brand called Spring Market.

The name “Spring Market” represents and honors the company’s great history: Brookshire opened its first store on Spring Avenue in Tyler, Texas, in 1928.

The 25 stores, the company announced in a statement, will open — pending acquisition — in 25 former Walmart Express stores this summer. The acquisition is scheduled to close in July.

The stores will offer hometown convenience in an easy-to-shop format with a surprising assortment of products at highly competitive prices, according to the company.

“Our Spring Market stores will stand for friendly service, quality products, affordable convenience and a pleasant shopping environment,” stated chairman and chief executive officer Brad Brookshire. “We are also really excited to hire hundreds of employees from these communities to help us take care of our new customers.”
