SAN MARCOS, Texas — Scott Emerson, founder and chief executive officer of The Emerson Group, recently received a 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas State University.

Emerson, part of the university’s class of 1975 with a degree in business administration, was one of six recipients honored at the Texas State Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Gala at the LBJ Student Center on Oct. 21. The ceremony also recognized “rising star” alumni with awards.

Award recipients included company CEOs and presidents, professors, engineers, and recognized psychologist and health care executives. The university said the award winners demonstrate excellence, innovation, success and service that “help positively shape our university and our communities.”

Based in Wayne, Pa., The Emerson Group describes itself as a consumer products equity organization, specializing in consulting and services for over-the-counter health care and beauty care products. Its teams include Emerson Healthcare, Emerson Marketing and Emerson Consulting.

Overall, Scott Emerson has more than 30 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) arena, including with such companies as Johnson & Johnson, Unilever and Novartis Consumer Health. He has held senior management positions at Fortune 500 companies in the areas of brand management, new business development, sales operations and field sales.
