Family Dollar’s Reiser to join Vitamin Shoppe as COO

He will help lead reinvention initiatives

SECAUCUS, N.J. — Jason Reiser, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Dollar Tree Inc.’s Family Dollar business, is set to join Vitamin Shoppe Inc. as chief operating officer, effective July 11.

In his new post, Reiser will be responsible for store operations, merchandising, supply chain and information technology for the company, a specialty retailer and manufacturer of nutritional products. He will also be tasked with leading those teams through the implementing the company’s reinvention strategy, according to Vitamin Shoppe CEO Colin Watts.

“The hiring of Jason continues to strengthen our leadership team and he will be a valuable addition to the already experienced and capable team we have assembled,” Watts said in a statement. “Jason is joining the Vitamin Shoppe at an exciting time as we continue to move ahead with implementing our strategic plan. He has a long established commitment to health and wellness, extensive experience in the industry and a proven track record of consistently delivering results. His combination of industry, retail, regulatory and customer knowledge uniquely positions Jason to drive the Vitamin Shoppe’s operating priorities.  I am excited, along with the rest of our team, to have Jason join the Vitamin Shoppe to help lead our ongoing company reinvention initiatives and drive our performance.”

Reiser has more than 30 years of experience in retail management, merchandising, private brand sourcing, regulatory management. Trained as a pharmacist, he began his retail career at Walmart. He joined that company as a pharmacy manager in 1995, and went on to hold a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including director of regulatory affairs, vice president of operations and compliance for health and wellness, and vice president for health and family care at Walmart and Sam’s Club.

He has spent the past three years at Family Dollar, which he joined as senior vice president of hardlines merchandising. He most recently served as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for the chain.
