COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) has bestowed its 2010 Hall of Achievement Award to A. G. Lafley, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G).

The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) has bestowed its 2010 Hall of Achievement Award to A. G. Lafley, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G).

"When you talk about the leaders who have had the most significant impact on the consumer packaged goods industry over the past several decades, A.G. Lafley is at the top of everyone’s list," said Pamela Bailey, president and CEO of GMA. "He has shown a life-long commitment to our industry and his record of achievement as a businessman and as a community leader is both remarkable and inspring."

Lafley retired from P&G in February after 32 years of service. He was named president and CEO in 2000 and was elected chairman in 2002. During his tenure, P&G more than doubled its sales and expanded its portfolio of billion-dollar brands to 22 from 10, in part due to the largest acquisition in the company’s history, the 2005 purchase of Gillette Co.
