DALLAS — H-E-B has revealed that it plans to open two more Central Market stores in this city, bringing its total in the market to four.

“We have had our eye on these two prime locations for many years,” said Stephen Butt, senior vice president at the Central Market division. “Central Market takes a very disciplined approach in selecting the best locations for our special brand. We are delighted to open these new stores to provide a great culinary experience for our loyal customers that live in these Dallas neighborhoods.”

One of the stores will be located at Midway Road and West Northwest Highway, and the other in the Uptown section of Dallas, at McKinney and Lemon Avenues.

The two new Central Market stores will be conversions of two of the six stores that H-E-B acquired from Carrolton, Texas-based RLS Supermarkets in August. Central Market closed on its purchase of six Sun Fresh stores from RLS in September.

Some area residents had hoped the purchase meant that the retailer intended to bring its flagship H-E-B format to the Dallas market. So far that does not appear to the case; a company spokeswoman says one of the other store sites has already been sold, and the three remaining sites are likely to be sold or leased to other retail tenants as well.
