Hy-Vee hires Buhrow as chief data officer

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee announced the hiring of Jason Buhrow as the regional supermarket chain’s chief data officer.

Buhrow will oversee the development and governance of data strategy for Hy-Vee, and will also focus on innovation in the areas of data science, analysis and visualization.Jason Buhrow, Hy-Vee Inc. chief data officer

Buhrow starts in his new role at Hy-Vee on April 19, bringing significant experience in the retail, insurance, finance, non-profit and manufacturing sectors. He arrives at Hy-Vee after serving as business technology vice president for FBL Financial Group Inc.

Buhrow also held positions in technology leadership at RSM US LLP and Berkley Technology Service LLC.

Buhrow earned bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Northern Iowa. He serves on the board of directors for NSEF and is an advisory member for 100 Men of Norwalk.

Hy-Vee operating more than 275 retail stores across eight Midwestern states with sales of $11 billion annually.
