We look forward to his leadership as president of Smith’s.”

Kimball joined the company in 1984 as a courtesy clerk in the Smith’s division. He went on to hold several leadership roles with Smith’s, including store manager, district manager and bakery director. He was named Smith’s senior vice president of sales and merchandising in 2009, and in 2012 he moved to Kroger’s Ralphs division, where he served first as vice president of merchandising and then, in 2013, as vice president of operations. Kimball last year served on special assignment at Kroger’s general office in 2015, before taking on his current role at Smith’s in February.

Salt Lake City-based Smith’s operates 138 stores in seven western states.
