More changes at Delhaize U.S.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Delhaize America has announced store closings and cuts to its executive ranks as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts.

Delhaize America has announced store closings and cuts to its executive ranks as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts.

The company is closing 33 Sweetbay supermarkets in Florida, as well as eight Food Lion stores and three Bottom Dollar Food stores.

Delhaize America has also trimmed its management ranks by 25%, creating a new structure with 50 executives, most of whom are based at Food Lion’s Salisbury, N.C., headquarters.

The departing executives include (at Delhaize America): Pete Bonneau, vice president, center store merchandising; Mike Brooks, vice president, strategy; Jim Corby, vice president, produce merchandising; Steve Culver, vice president, government relations – Northeast; Kristen Hanson, vice president, Our Brands; Mike Harris, vice president, risk management; Lisa Miller, vice president, sustainability; and Lisa Toner, vice president, legal affairs; as well as (at Food Lion) James Egan, senior vice president, retail operations; Kyle Price, vice president, produce merchandising; and T.R. Robinson, senior vice president, merchandising.

Food Lion reported its best quarterly performance since 2006 for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2012, but Delhaize Group will still book a 17.5% drop in underlying operating profit.
