SAN FRANCISCO — Personal care company OLIKA has reported a record-breaking sales month. The brand saw its Q1 sales increase 420%. The company also doubled its team in March, bringing several new executives and essential team members on board.

Alastair Dorward, OLIKA’s chief executive officer said the record-breaking sales and rapid growth was a direct response to the coronavirus pandemic and the “new normal” further defining the hand sanitizer category.

“Consumers are understandably focused on family and community health right now,” says Dorward. “In March, we sold more hand sanitizer in four days than we did in all of 2019. The juxtaposition of a rapidly-growing company in unprecedented economic conditions is not lost on us. We’re humbled to expand and remain committed to helping consumers stay healthy and most importantly, staying kind and compassionate in uncertain times.”

OLIKA expanded its leadership team, hiring Janelle Hailey as vice president of marketing and product innovation. Hailey brings more than 10 years of marketing and beauty experience to her role. Her experience includes work with such Johnson & Johnson brands as Aveeno, BabyCenter, Neutrogena and Clean & Clear.

The company also recruited Tim Cleary and Paul Miller in sales leadership roles and named Jason Bowman as head of supplychain.

Previously, Cleary held the role of vice president of sales for Purell Consumer, where he led the re-launch of the Purell brand in the North American market. Miller has more than 25 years of experience building consumer brands across all U.S. and Canadian retail channels, including such brands as Revlon, Hain Celestial and Plum Organics. Bowman has experience holding supply chain leadership positions with Ripple Foods, COTY, Method Products and Pepsi.
