EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Premier Nutrition Corp. is expanding its PowerBar portfolio with the introduction of Clean Whey Protein Bars and Clean Whey Protein Drinks.

The products feature no artificial sweeteners and just 2 grams of sugar, the company says.

“Clean foods have risen in popularity over the years as consumers have become more health conscious and savvy regarding how to power their bodies both on and off the field,” says Eric Zaltas, vice president of research and development at Premier Nutrition. “PowerBar Clean Whey protein bars and drinks are on trend with the movement toward removing artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors from foods and utilizing high quality proteins, like the whey protein we use in the Clean Whey product line.”

PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Bar is made with 20g of whey protein and designed to help sustain energy and satiety. They are available in three flavors — Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream, and White Fudge Raspberry.

PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Drink is made with 15 grams of whey protein, zero grams of sugar and is 70 calories. It is positioned is an alternative to a traditional dairy-based protein shake and can be used during or after a workout, as a healthy snack or meal replacement. It is available in two flavors — Berry Pomegranate and Fruit Punch.
