CHICAGO — Shopko Stores Operating Co. plans to deploy higi health stations in 263 stores in 18 states.

Chicago-based higi said Monday that the rollout is under way and is expected to be finished in October.

The kiosks also provide users with the higi Score, a proprietary measurement encompassing vital health statistics, lifestyle and social relationships that’s designed to give people one number to “quantify their life” and show how the choices they make impact their health.

Users, too, will be able to securely store their data in a private, online higi account for reference and progress comparison. They can also use the higi mobile application and website, which provide wellness-related content and activity tracking tools.

“Shopko is pleased to welcome higi into our stores,” Darren Singer, senior vice president of retail health and wellness at Shopko, said in a statement. “Higi will be an innovative way to engage our shoppers and employees, helping them track and achieve their individual wellness goals. We are excited to leverage higi’s platform in combination with our great pharmacy teams, driving our vision as a health and wellness destination in the communities we serve.”

Higi said the partnership expands the U.S. retail network for its health kiosks to six new states, including Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota. Nationwide, higi has almost 10,000 health stations in retail locations, and the company said 75% of the U.S. population lives within five miles of a higi health kiosk. More than 155 million tests have been completed across higi’s network.

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with an organization like Shopko, a company that is focused on leveraging innovation to drive best-in-class engagement across its products and services,” stated Jeff Bennett, chief executive officer of higi. “Shopko and higi are a strategic fit, as Shopko was looking for a partner that can enhance its shoppers’ shopping experience and higi brings a best-in-class platform to help accomplish this goal. Shopko’s commitment to the health and well-being of the communities it serves is inspiring.”

Overall, Shopko operates 376 stores and more than 260 pharmacies in 25 central, western and Pacific Northwest states, including 131 Shopko stores, five Shopko Express Rx stores, five Shopko Pharmacy locations and 235 Shopko Hometown stores.
