The loyalty program, SE Grocers rewards, awards points earned at checkout and allows them to be redeemed for savings on groceries or gasoline, with fuel redemptions available through participating Shell and other fuel stations, the company said in a July 18 statement.
“We are committed to providing a shopping experience our customers can count on,” said Anthony Hucker, Southeastern Grocers’ president and chief executive officer.
SE Grocers rewards allow shoppers to accumulate bonus points on purchases of hundreds of products throughout the company’s stores, Southeastern Grocers said. Points will be available for up to two years, expiring December 31 of the following calendar year.
Shoppers who present an existing loyalty card at checkout will receive a new SE Grocers rewards card and welcome kit, the company said. The value of unredeemed Plenti points earned in stores will be transferred to the new SE Grocers rewards program.
As part of the rollout, the first 100 customers at a Shell-branded gas station in selected markets will receive up to $40 of free fuel, according to the company statement. Customers are urged to visit the Facebook pages of their BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket or Winn-Dixie stores for updates on free fuel events, which are scheduled to run through the end of July.
Southeastern Grocers’ rewards cardholders who swipe their cards at participating Shell stations will be enrolled in a fuel rewards program and receive gold status, meaning they can save an additional five cents per gallon on every purchase of up to 20 gallons of fuel, according to the statement.
“Coming together with Southeastern Grocers to provide a great rewards program for our customers is something we are excited about,” said Todd Gulbransen, North American loyalty manager for Shell Retail.
