GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — SpartanNash has acquired Shop-N-Save Food Centers (SNS), a three-store grocery chain in northwestern Michigan.

Following the closing of the deal, the three stores (located in Benzonia, Fremont and Ludington, Mich.) have been converted to SpartanNash’s Family Fare brand. Spartan Nash noted that the deal meant continued employment for the store’s workers, who are now SpartanNash associates, and expanded product offerings for shoppers.

SNS was founded in 1973 by William “Bill” DeVries, and it has been a food distribution customer of SpartanNash for nearly 25 years.

Family Fare was established in 1962, and – with the acquisition of these stores – SpartanNash now operates 86 Family Fare stores throughout the Midwest. Shoppers at the converted stores can look forward to fresh produce, a deli, bakery, floral department, pharmacy, meat and seafood counter, and many of the same products they enjoyed at SNS, including SpartanNash’s Our Family brand products, the company said. SpartanNash will also offer its yes Rewards shopper loyalty program, which offers members digital coupons and other ways to save on groceries and household products.
