Replaces nearby outlet in Riverside, Calif.
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. Markets is celebrating the opening of its newest location with a grand opening ceremony September 21 in Riverside, Calif.
The 49,480-square-foot store, in a former KMart outlet, replaces a nearby Stater Bros. location that is closing September 25.
“With this new store in Riverside, we’re reinvesting into the community to make grocery shopping better for its residents. It’s a prime example of Stater Bros. providing consumers what they want, where they want it,” says Stater Bros. CEO Pete Van Helden. “We’re very proud of this store and we’re sure shoppers in the community will love it too.”
The school band from Riverside’s Norte Vista High School performs live at the ribbon-cutting, and Stater Bros. Charities will present $30,000 in donations to six local non-profit organizations. KOLA 99.9 is broadcasting classic hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s live from the parking lot until 11 a.m., when station 99.1 KGGI takes over playing top Inland Empire hits.
The new market features amenities that cater to today’s consumers, the company says, citing a full-service meat, seafood, service deli and bakery departments, plentiful fresh and healthy offerings, spacious aisles to maneuver about, and décor that is reflective of the local community.
Customers will also find favorites including pan dulce, hand-prepared guacamole, aguas frescas, tacos, and chicharrones. The company also notes that shoppers will find fresh sushi created in-store by professionally trained sushi chefs, and freshly cut fruit from the store’s fruit-cutting station. In addition, the store will have eco-friendly features like energy-efficient equipment and energy-saving LED lighting.
Stater Bros. Markets serves communities throughout Southern California at more than 170 stores and through the helping hands of 18,000 employees.
