ABINGTON, Mass. — Peapod LLC, the home delivery arm of Ahold USA, has launched a new store pickup service, Peapod Pick-Up. The service initially is being offered at the Stop & Shop supermarket here. Additional locations are planned for the future.

Peapod LLC, the home delivery arm of Ahold USA, has launched a new store pickup service, Peapod Pick-Up. The service initially is being offered at the Stop & Shop supermarket here. Additional locations are planned for the future.

Through the service, shoppers can choose a convenient one-hour pickup time between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Sunday through Friday, or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Ahold USA already offers pickup service at three other store locations, but this is the first that uses Peapod.com. Customers within 10 miles of the Abington Stop & Shop can shop on Peapod.com, pay online and then have the choice of either delivery or pickup. Orders are placed in a special storage locker at a drive-through station on the side of the store and the bags are placed in the customer’s car by an attendant.

"Customers can now shop anywhere, anytime," says Andrew Parkinson, president of Peapod. "Peapod Pick-Up now provides a convenient alternative to our delivery service."
