Target Corp. this weekend plans to open a new store in Chicago and kick off a summertime Black Friday promotion in its online store.

The discount chain said Tuesday that it plans to open a 200,000-square-foot general merchandise store at 4466 N Broadway St. in Chicago’s Wilson Yard community with a ceremony on Sunday, July 25.

Expected to bring 300 jobs to the neighborhood, the new store will feature fresh produce, meat and bakery goods and enhancements to areas such as beauty, shoes, electronics, jewelry and home. The location will also offer such amenities as Starbucks, Target Cafe, Target Pharmacy, Target Optical and Pizza Hut Express.

In addition, the Wilson Yard store sports a green roof and what Target said is the nation’s largest spangleboard — a 16-foot by 250-foot billboard display with 200,000 tiny bullseye medallions that shimmer in the breeze from the passing El trains.

And in other news, Target.com "Daily Deals" this Friday plans to offer its first "Back in Black Friday" sale.

Intended to give summer bargain hunters advance savings and a head start on holiday shopping, the Back in Black Friday online-only sale is scheduled to begin on July 23 at 12:00 a.m. PT and conclude at 11:59 p.m. PT the same day.

"At Target.com, we are committed to offering our guests tremendous value every day. With our first-ever Back in Black Friday, guests will find incredible bargains before the holiday season with the added convenience of online shopping," commented Steve Eastman, president of Target.com.

Target said the online sale will offer an average of a 40% off regular prices on key items across all categories, such apparel, electronics, toys, housewares, movies, music and books.

Customers will find deals on more than 500 items, including Liberty of London for Target adult bedding collections at 25% off; clothing such as dresses, tank tops and bathing suits at 25% off; a Philips Blu-Ray disc player at 42% off; an Aiptek 6-megapixel digital camcorder at 60% off; and a Wii 9-in-1 Sports Pack at 50% off.
