DEERFIELD, Ill. — Driving its omnichannel strategy, Walgreens has introduced a ship-to-store option for orders made online or via its mobile application.

The drug chain said Monday that customers can pick up eligible online and mobile app retail orders at its more than 7,600 Walgreens and Duane Reade stores. No minimum order is required, and shipping is free.

Orders typically arrive within one to three business days, and customers are notified by e-mail when their order is ready to be picked up, Walgreens said.

“Our new Ship to Store program provides value to our customers by giving them access to a wide range of products that are typically not found in-store,” Joe Hartsig, senior vice president of merchandising at Walgreens, said in a statement. “With Ship to Store, customers have the ability to ship orders to their preferred Walgreens store if their residence or workplace isn’t a secure option.”

To use the service, customers select the Ship to Store option when shopping for eligible items on Walgreens.com or through the Walgreens mobile app. Walgreens paperless coupons, Balance Rewards benefits and other digital promotions can also be used for Ship to Store orders and applied online before payment, the retailer said.

Walgreens also offers free shipping to a customer’s home or other address for eligible online orders over $35.

“As a leading omnichannel retailer, we’re continually looking for innovative ways to provide anytime, anywhere convenience by offering the best health, wellness and beauty products with just a few clicks,” Hartsig added. “And with Walgreens stores within five miles of 75% of the U.S. population, this service is another way we can offer convenience by providing more choices to improve the shopping experience for our customers.”
