BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Walgreens announced that it will be opening a store at the Mall of America this fall.

The 7,600-square-foot location will be located on the third floor of the mall’s east side of the megamall where it will offer cosmetics and household items, plus photo services. The store is replacing the apparel retailer Rainbow, which will move to the third floor’s north side.

“Walgreens is the perfect addition to the eclectic mix of retail, dining and attractions at Mall of America,” said Carrie Charleston, the mall’s vice president of leasing.

The retailer will be scaling back the Mall of America location, according Phil Caruso, who handles media relations for the company. With the space available, the store won’t feature the typical pharmacy and will be a “little bit smaller,” he said.

“Guests are increasingly looking for convenience when visiting Mall of America and the services and products that Walgreens offers adds to the top notch guest service and variety it provides,” said Charleston.

Amanda Viramontes, Walgreens’ regional vice president for Minnesota, added it will bring “the convenience of Walgreens to the Mall of America,” as well as offering “our exclusive beauty and health care brands…to visitors.”
