Judy Werthauser joins the company from Five Below

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has named Judy Werthauser as executive vice president and chief people officer. In this role, she will lead the people strategy within Walmart U.S., focused on career growth and associate opportunity, prioritizing well-being, driving a culture of belonging, and enhancing the company’s digital ways of working.

“As the Walmart U.S. team works to exceed customer expectations, improve the Walmart+ experience, and accelerate our digital expansion, Judy will be an invaluable partner and counselor to the business. Her expertise will benefit both our associates and our efforts to continue growing wallet share in the U.S.” the retailer said.

Werthauser joins the company from Five Below, where she most recently served as chief experience officer. In this role, she helped contribute to the growth of Five Below, doubling the size of that business from 750 locations to more than 1,300 over the past three years. She also has extensive people leadership, operational and transformation experience spanning Domino’s, Target and U.S. Bank.

“She will be a key member of John Furner’s Walmart U.S. leadership team and a pivotal member of the Global People leadership team. Judy’s direct reports will include Maren Waggoner (SVP, End-to-End People), Eric Snieski (VP, People and Product), Megan Taylor (VP, People Customer and Revenue Growth), Trinh Lam (Sr. Director, Merchandising People), and Courtney Fisher (Sr. Director, H&W People). She will oversee our people efforts for all associates in the Walmart U.S. segment within our stores, distribution centers, fulfillment centers and campus offices.”

Werthauser started with Walmart on Monday.
