Walmart revamps merchandising organization

Walmart has reconfigured its merchandising organization into four areas under executive vice presidents, including two new appointments.

Duncan Mac Naughton steps up as EVP of consumables and health and wellness, while Andy Barron takes over softlines.

Matt Kistler, who had been SVP of sustainability, has taken over the newly created post of senior vice president of marketing.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has restructured its merchandising organization and named two new executive vice presidents within that organization.

The reorganization is the first major change since Bill Simon was appointed president and chief executive officer of Walmart U.S. and former chief merchant John Fleming stepped down.

Merchandising has been broken down into four core areas that align similar categories. John Westling continues as executive vice president over replenishment, but adds general merchandise to his portfolio, while Jack Sinclair continues as EVP of food.

However, Duncan Mac Naughton, who had been EVP of merchandising and marketing at Supervalu Inc. before departing to take the post of chief merchandising officer for Walmart Canada, has been named EVP of consumables, health and wellness and Walmart.com. Additionally, Andy Barron has been promoted to EVP of soft lines.

A new position, senior vice president of marketing, has been created and Matt Kistler, who had been SVP of sustainability, has taken that role. He has been replaced by Andrea Thomas, who had been SVP of the home, hardlines and entertainment general merchandise center within Walmart’s global sourcing organization.
