Ahold USA has split the former executive vice president of marketing and merchandising role into two positions, and has promoted Erik Keptner to the newly created position of executive vice president of marketing.

The company continues to search for an executive vice president of merchandising.

Keptner will report to Ahold USA chief operating officer Carl Schlicker, and he will be responsible for creating, developing and implementing long-term marketing strategies that will support the company’s growth ambitions and sales targets. He and his team will support the division teams in delivering a compelling brand and customer offer that drives sales and responds to the customers’ needs, staying ahead of the competition.

Keptner began his Ahold career in 1998 as consumer research analyst for the Giant-Carlisle division. He took on roles of increasing responsibility, and since 2010 he has been senior vice president of marketing and consumer insights for Ahold USA.

"With more than 15 years of experience, Erik will be able to lead our teams as we focus on increasing customer loyalty," Schlicker said. "He is passionate about the business and delivering to our customers in a way that will drive sales and respond to their needs."
