Ribbon cutting held for 50,000-square-foot supermarket
CARLISLE, Pa. – The GIANT Co. held grand opening ceremonies today for its new Benner Township store, located at 2699 Benner Pike, in Bellefonte, Pa. The new 50,000-square-foot store will operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, and add more than 100 full- and part-time jobs to the Centre Co. community.
“At The GIANT Company, we are a neighborhood grocery store, but we are also members of the communities we serve,” said interim president John Ruane. “The opening of our Benner Township GIANT builds on our legacy of serving the State College community for more than 30 years, offering families convenience, meal solutions, and savings to meet their lifestyles. Opening just in time for holiday celebrations, our new store reinforces our commitment to fulfilling our purpose of connecting families to a better future.”
Thomas “Woody” Woodring, a 43-year grocery veteran, has been appointed store manager of the newest GIANT.
“We are excited to open our doors to the greater Bellefonte community and, just in time for the holiday season,” Woodring said. “Our new store will feature the very best of GIANT’s For Today’s Table brand, but especially our customer promises – simplify shopping, inspire fresh ideas, and create healthier communities. Our team is here to help, and we will strive to create meaningful shopping experiences that helps families gather around the table.”
Benner Township customers will find GIANT’S signature fresh departments including farm fresh garden produce, fresh meat and seafood, bakery, floral, and Beer & Wine Eatery. An onsite fuel station provides convenience and opportunities to save at the pump, and in-store, with GIANT Choice Rewards .
Launched in 2019, Choice Rewards brings customized savings and rewards to one’s fingertips with the GIANT app. Customers earn points through personalized “bonus earn” offers while earning points on qualifying purchases at the rate of one point for every $1 spent. Customers can redeem points for discounts on gas (100 points = $0.10 discount per gallon up to 25 gallons) or choose to convert points to dollars to save directly on groceries.
“We know price is top of mind for our customers, and it is for us too,” said Woodring. “GIANT Choice Rewards is a great way for customers to shop and save. It helps families stretch their dollars by offering hundreds of dollars in savings each week. Customers choose rewards that matter the most to them, delivering an easy and personalized shopping experience that saves time and money.”
