COLUMBUS, Ohio — After wrapping up a highly successful fiscal year, Big Lots Inc. has unveiled organizational changes and announced executive promotions.

After wrapping up a highly successful fiscal year, Big Lots Inc. has unveiled organizational changes and announced executive promotions.

“We are very proud of what we have accomplished as an organization over the last several years as we reinvented this business,” says chairman, president and chief executive officer Steve Fishman. “We announced our third consecutive year of rec­ord earnings and articulated a long-range view of the significant growth opportunities that lie ahead for the company, including the addition of approximately 40 stores and potentially 4,000 to 5,000 new jobs over the next three years.”

Four executives have been rewarded with promotions. Lisa Bachmann has been named executive vice president of supply chain management and chief information officer, with additional responsibility for distribution and transportation services. Bachmann joined the company in March 2002 as senior vice president of merchandise planning and allocation, and took on the added role of CIO in 2005.

Another new executive vice president is Joe Cooper, who was senior vice president and chief financial officer. Cooper, who joined Big Lots in May 2000 as vice president of strategic planning and investor relations, has added responsibility for loss prevention and risk management to his portfolio, which includes treasury as well.

Charles Haubiel II has been promoted to executive vice president of legal and real estate, with additional responsibility for employment litigation and general liability administration functions. He continues to serve as general counsel and corporate secretary along with his primary responsibility for real estate operations. Bachmann, Cooper and Haubiel all report directly to Fishman.

Finally, Steven Smart has been promoted to senior vice president and general merchandise manager, with responsibility for consumables, hard lines and play-and-wear.
