Brown to head Kroger division

CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. has made two recent executive appointments.

Kroger Co. has made two recent executive appointments.

Most recently, Tim Brown, a 34-year company veteran, was named president of Kroger’s Delta division, based in Memphis and encompassing stores in western Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri.

Since 2011 Brown had worked as vice president of operations in the Mid-Atlantic division, which is based in Roanoke, Va. Before that he had served as the division’s vice president of merchandising since 2009.

"Tim brings extensive industry experience, passion for our customers and associates, and a track record of strong business results to this position," comments Rodney McMullen, who serves as Kroger’s president and chief operating officer. "Tim is an exceptional leader, and we are pleased he has agreed to lead our Delta division."

Brown began his Kroger career as a bagger at the age of 17 and joined the grocer’s management training program in 1981.

He has served in leadership positions in merchandising and operations in seven of Kroger’s retail divisions and at the headquarters in ­Cincinnati.

In other moves, Kroger has appointed Suzanne Lindsay as director of sustainability. She previously created and led sustainability initiatives at PetSmart Inc.

Holder of a degree in civil engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, Lindsay will direct Kroger’s Sustainability Leadership Team.
