SEATTLE — Ahold’s Giant-Landover supermarket chain has agreed to carry seven flavors of Jones Soda.

Ahold’s Giant-Landover supermarket chain has agreed to carry seven flavors of Jones Soda.

Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. said Thursday that the Mid-Atlantic food and drug retailer will offer the beverage in its 180 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

At least two of the flavors will be Jones’ new Zilch line of premium zero-calorie sodas.

"Having our products merchandised in Giant stores is a credit to our unique products and to the efforts of our hard-working sales team," Jones Soda chief executive officer Bill Meissner said in a statement. "We have already earned distribution through Ahold’s largest [U.S. supermarket] operation, Stop & Shop, and once successful with Giant-Landover, the other Ahold banners like Giant-Carlisle, Tops and Bi-Lo will likely have an interest in bringing in Jones products as well."

Last week, discount retail giant Target agreed to carry the Jones GABA infused beverage in stores nationwide. Each can of Jones GABA contains 150 mg of gamma-aminobutyric acid, a natural amino acid that the company said increases the production of alpha brain waves to enhance mental focus and clarity.

Plans call for Jones ready-to-drink tea and juice blended beverages in Fuji apple, nectarine, lemon honey and grapefruit to hit Target shelves in late May.

Jones Soda Co. markets and distributes premium beverages under the Jones Soda, Jones Pure Cane Soda, Jones 24C, Jones GABA and Whoopass Energy Drink brands.
