WASHINGTON –The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) has aligned with 110 other organizations in urging national, state and local leaders to help maintain the supply of critical products while confronting COVID-19.

In a letter to policymakers released today, the groups urge a uniform definition of “critical infrastructure” at all levels of government – a term that affects whether manufacturers continue to operate. The groups also recommend taking care that transportation policies do not create artificial barriers to product shipment from manufacturing facilities to retailers, and that curfews do not prevent a healthy workforce from moving to and from manufacturing facilities and retailers.

“Addressing barriers to the COVID-19 response is important for NACDS’ retail and supplier members alike and for the Americans they serve,” said NACDS president and CEO Steven Anderson. “With our pharmacy allies, NACDS is advocating for critical policies at the federal and state level that are necessary to prevent barriers to patient care at this time of emergency. We also stand strongly with our supply chain partners to help prevent harmful product and workforce disruptions.”
