WASHINGTON — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) has tapped Scott Melville as its new president.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) has tapped Scott Melville as its new president.

Mellville currently serves as senior vice president of government affairs and general counsel at the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA), a trade association representing America’s primary health care distributors.

Melville succeeds Linda Suydam, who at the CHPA’s executive conference in March announced her plans to retire at the end of this year.

Prior to joining HDMA, Melville served as an attorney and senior director of government relations for Cephalon Inc., and as a public policy director and federal lobbyist for Hoffmann-La Roche and Sterling Winthrop Inc. He is the former chairman of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association and the BIO State Government Relations Committee.

Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, Melville was a legislative counsel and Appropriations Committee associate on the staff of Rep. Jerry Lewis (R., Calif.).
