OLD TAPPAN, N.J. — New Leaf Brands Inc. has entered a distribution agreement with Ahold USA supermarket chain Giant Food for its natural healthy beverages.

New Leaf Brands Inc. has entered a distribution agreement with Ahold USA supermarket chain Giant Food for its natural healthy beverages.

The company said Thursday that its beverages are now authorized to be sold in all 180 Giant Food stores. The retailer, based in Landover, Md., operates supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

The company has authorized distribution of six flavors of New Leaf’s tea beverages, which are sweetened with 100% organic cane sugar.

"We continue to secure key relationships with regional grocery and specialty food stores that provide immediate distribution of our products in key markets," New Leaf founder, president and chief executive officer Eric Skae said in a statement. "Giant Food is well-recognized in the Mid-Atlantic for its commitment to providing an engaging shopping experience to its customers, focusing on quality, price, service and reliability. We are very pleased to commence our relationship with the company."

New Leaf offers 12 tea flavors sweetened with 100% organic cane sugar, four lemonades made with 6% to 10% real fruit juice and sweetened with 100% organic cane sugar, and two diet iced teas sweetened with Splenda.

Late last month, New Leaf announced that it had expanded its distribution with Whole Foods Market Inc. through an additional 42 stores in the natural supermarket chain’s Southern Pacific division, which includes southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. New Leaf beverages already were carried in Whole Foods’ Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Rocky Mountain Division stores.
