Rite Aid Corp. is launching a program that promises to provide information and special deals to people with diabetes.

Consumers who enroll in the free program, which is called “wellness+ for diabetes,” will have access to a special Rite Aid-sponsored section of WebMD’s “Diabetes head2toe” website, which features online lifestyle management tools, including a personal diabetes work plan — customized for each member — with a daily glucose tracker, a weekly workout log, recipes and meal planning tips, and monthly lifestyle summary reports.

"People living with diabetes and their caregivers are often overwhelmed by all the information available to them and are looking for help to make sense of it all," says Rite Aid executive vice president of pharmacy Robert Thompson. "Our new wellness+ for diabetes program offers unique answers and extends the support Rite Aid pharmacists have long offered."

Wellness+ for diabetes members will have access to additional resources as well. Among them:

• Access to informative videos and Web pages that can be viewed by scanning a QR code with a smartphone.
• Educational brochures and other materials from manufacturers of diabetes-related items.
• Exclusive wellness+ for diabetes rewards, including a $10 “+UP Reward,” which can be used on a future Rite Aid shopping trip, for every $50 purchase of diabetes-related products.
• A welcome package with more than $100 in savings on a variety of diabetes-related products for patients who bring in a new diabetes prescription.
